Three teenage boys suspected of carjacking a man led authorities on a pursuit before being arrested in Bay Terraces Thursday night, San Diego police said.
The victim left a restaurant and walked to his parked car on Morena Boulevard near Buenos Avenue about nine p.m. He was sitting in his vehicle when he heard someone tapping a window, police Sgt. Michael Tansey said.
He looked up and spotted a stranger on the driver’s side of his car and another on the passenger’s side. They coerced the victim out of the Toyota Camry at gunpoint, Tansey said.
Once he was out, a third teenage demanded that he empty his pockets. The victim refused, and the trio got into the Camry and drove off, Tansey said.
About half an hour later, National City police officers located the Camry on East Plaza Boulevard by using a stolen vehicle tracking system.
The stolen car collided with another vehicle on Highland Avenue, then went onto west state Route 54. A police pursuit ended in Bay Terraces, on Brookhaven Road near Deep Dell Road, shortly before ten p.m.
At least one of the teenagers attempted to run away, but he and the two others were taken into custody.
