Police investigating string of car break-ins, numerous arrested
TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Topeka Police are investigating a string of car burglaries early Tuesday morning.
Police say the areas of influence range from Washburn Ave. to Gage Blvd inbetween Huntoon St. and 17th St. in West/Central Topeka.
At Two:00 a.m. officers stopped three suspicious subjects in the area of SW 14th and Boswell. Police said during the investigation, the three admitted to violating in to numerous vehicles in the area of SW 17th and Washburn. Several lumps of property taken from these vehicle burglaries were located with the individuals.
Shane Lesley Brooks II, Legal, was booked into the Shawnee County jail on charges of burglary, theft and improper use of a highway. Police said two juveniles, both masculine, were booked into the Shawnee County Juvenile center in relation to this incident.
Shortly after Three:00 Tuesday morning, Topeka Police officers stopped two suspicious masculine juveniles in the area of SW 17th and Wayne. After an investigation, the two juveniles were also booked into the Shawnee County Juvenile center on numerous charges of burglary, theft and criminal harm.
Police said at least ten victims have been identified however there is still property yet to be claimed. Anyone who finds they have been a victim of overnight vehicle burglaries in these areas are asked to call the Topeka Police Department at 785-368-9551.
