Ram Launches the Off-Road-Ready one thousand five hundred Rebel

Ram has consistently sat at No. Three in pickup sales, just behind Ford and Chevy, and it is obviously not content with that, as it keeps on releasing more and more awesome pickups. We already have the EcoDiesel, which offers power and efficiency, and the Ram Power Wagon, which combines the capabilities of the Ram two thousand five hundred with an off-road-ready package, and now Ram has exposed a fresh off-road package for the Ram one thousand five hundred at the Detroit Auto Showcase.

Dubbed the Ram one thousand five hundred Rebel, the looks of this perched Ram one thousand five hundred stray far enough from the base model to make it lightly recognizable as something special. The very first thing you’ll notice is that Ram scrapped its signature crosshair grille in favor of a special, blacked-out Rebel Grille with “RAM” prominently displayed in the center. The switches don’t stop there, as Ram also added in a powder-coated off-road front bumper, a powder-coated aluminum skid plate, fresh front tow hooks, LED fog lights, projector headlights with black bezels, and an aluminum twin-snorkel bondage mask.

Down the sides, a keen eye will notice black Power Wagon wheel arches, a flat-black badge, flat-black mirror stalks, and a two-tone paint scheme that retains the black lower hue regardless of what the base color is. Also included are 17-inch aluminum wheels that feature black-painted pockets and are packaged in 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T tires.

On the rear you’ll notice “RAM” stamped in black on the tailgate, a black powder-coated rear bumper, dual chrome harass tips, black taillight bezels, and “Rebel” and “4X4” badges to help set apart this Ram pickup.

The styling of this pickup proceeds inwards, where Ram added in grain vinyl seats in Radar Crimson and black with Sedoso fabric inserts, light grey accent stitching, a Radar Crimson Ram’s head embroidered on the headrests, and a Light Diesel Grey “Rebel” nameplate on each seat back. A neat addition to these seats is that the inserts have the tread pattern of the Toyo tires the Rebel wears embossed in them. The cabin resumes with a logo-embossed center console, and Radar Crimson anodized vent wings, door accent rings, door panel speakers and center console trim ring. Lastly, all-weather floor mats keep filth, mud, snow and water from hurting the carpet.

The drivetrain department is rather standard, as the Rebel is available with either the Trio.6-liter, Pentastar V-6 or the Five.7-liter, HEMI V-8. The HEMI V-8 is available with four-or two-wheel drive with either Three.92 or Three.21 gear ratios. With the Three.6-liter engine, the Ram one thousand five hundred Rebel comes only with four-wheel drive and a Three.92 gear ratio – the very first time ever the Trio.6-liter is suggested with this gear ratio.

The only real spectacle switches to the Ram one thousand five hundred Rebel, other than the Three.92 gears with the Three.6-liter engine and the big all-terrain tires is the 1-inch rail height increase. This gives the Ram one thousand five hundred Rebel a class-leading Ten.Three inches of ground clearance.

The two thousand fifteen Ram one thousand five hundred Rebel will hit dealers in the 2nd half of 2015, but pricing details are not available yet.
