A Columbia-based Pink Floyd tribute band, Interstellar Overdrive, has been signed to headline a four-band music festival planned in Memorial Park on the “Mightnight at Noon” two thousand seventeen total solar eclipse weekend celebration in Owensville.

Gasconade County Fair Association directors voted unanimously on Thursday to pledge $Ten,000 to promote the music festival scheduled on Saturday, Aug. Nineteen,as a fund-raiser for a fresh youth building. Owensville Chamber of Commerce members previously pledged $Five,000 to promote the event through their Tourism Committee.

Profits from the Saturday afternoon and evening festival will be divided inbetween the youth building campaign (75 percent) and local development of the Rock Island Trail (25 percent) through a cooperative Tourism Committee agreement with the Rosebud community.

Food will be served by the Fair Association and a beer garden is being planned. Activities are tentatively scheduled from four p.m. to midnight at the lower pulling arena and surrounding area along Crimson Oak Road.

Ticket sales and costs will be announced when finalized and will be available for purchase through the online event service Eventbrite.

Events at Memorial Park that weekend are being book-ended by music events at two local businesses — White Mule Winery and Cool Cow Cheese Farm. Owners of each business have pledged a percentage of their profits to the youth building and trail development campaigns.

White Mule near Drake is planning to host a dueling pianos display on Friday, Aug. Legitimate. Cool Cow Cheese off of Tschappler Road north of Owensville is hosting a bluegrass festival on Sunday, Aug. 20. Food will be sold at both events. Costs will be announced when details are finalized.

Plans are being made to suggest a ticket package to attend all three music events. Details will be announced when finalized.

Plans are also being made to suggest reserved camping sites at Memorial Park. The camping area off of Crimson Oak Road is being developed this winter to include up to thirty four sites with electrified, water, and a sewer dump station.

A fresh water line with seventeen frost-free hydrants and sewer dump station is being constructed this winter through a cooperative agreement inbetween the city’s park system, the city, and the Fair Association which voted last week to contribute $Two,000 to the project. The park system will fund $6,000 of the cost for materials and the city is contributing the labor and machinery to install the looped system.

Electrified hookups were installed last summer by the Fair Association. The park system participated in that project by paying $1,000 of the $Four,000 cost.

Extra primitive camp sites are expected to be available on park grounds across the eclipse weekend. Fees and details on making reservations will be announced when finalized.

Interstellar Overdrive will feast the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd forming by performing “The Wall” in its entirety when they play the Blue Note in Columbia on April 21. The display will include construction of a wall onstage. The band is known for three-hour long shows featuring amazing light shows as a backdrop to their love for the Floyd’s music.

“They are a collective of Pink Floyd loving musicians and sound, light and movie engineers coming together to share their music with you,”
